#24 IRSC Men Win On The Road At Daytona State 102-86
Daytona Beach, Florida – Bendji Pierre had a big night offensively scoring 40 points, scoring 26 in the first half to lead the Pioneers to a 102-86 victory over Daytona State College. This was the second meeting between the two teams as Indian River State College (IRSC) won the first matchup 109-72.
IRSC went inside to Pierre early and built a 22-11 advantage. The scoring pace did not slow as the Pioneers went into the half with a 62-41 lead, the highest point total in a half for IRSC this season. The second half saw the lead balloon to 30, 75-45 before Daytona State mounted a slight comeback cutting the margin to 13, 79-66 with 10 minutes left in the contest. The Pioneers went on their own 11-0 run and put the game out of reach for good as they rolled to a 102-86 win.
Scoring for IRSC were Pierre with 40 points and 7 rebounds, Jonathan Cisse 19, A.J. Cajuste 13, and Jacob Tracey added 10. IRSC moved their record to 6-1 on the season as they were ranked #24 in the latest Nation Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Poll and #4 in the NJCAA Region 8 Coach's Poll. They will take on Polk State College on Saturday November 20th at 2 pm at the IRSC Massey Campus.
