Pioneers Move to 7-1 On The Season With Win Over Polk State

Fort Pierce, Florida – The #24 ranked team in the nation, Indian River State College (IRSC) moved their record to 7-1 on the season with a convincing win over Polk State College, 86-71.  IRSC came out hot from the outside by connecting on 11 three-point baskets in the first half and building up a 56-31 advantage.  Kyle Feit, Tyerre Bryan, and Bendji Pierre all connected on three, three-point baskets in the first half.  "That was one of our better halves of offensive basketball this season," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.

The first half started off strong with Bryan hitting a baseline jump shot right before the shot clock expired giving the Pioneers a 29-point lead, 60-31 with 18:43 remaining in the game. IRSC was not as efficient offensively for the rest of the game only scoring 30 points in the second half, but the big offensive explosion provided enough scoring for the 86-71 win. 

Double figure scorers for IRSC were Pierre with 21 points followed by Bryan 17, Feit 14, and A.J. Cajuste with 12.  Cajuste led the team in rebounding and assists with 8 and 5 respectfully. The Pioneers will be in action on Thanksgiving Day, when they travel to Bradenton, Florida to participate in the in a three-day holiday classic which will be held on the campus of State College of Florida Manatee/Sarasota.  They will take on Georgia Highlands on Thanksgiving Day at 2 p.m., Albany Technical College on Friday the 26th at 5 p.m. and South Georgia Technical College on Saturday the 27th at 2 p.m.
