Pioneers Win Big At Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL – Another strong offensive showing for the Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team propelled them to their third win of the season over Florida State College of Jacksonville, 92-62.  It was a slow start for the Pioneers, and the game was close in the early going.  IRSC had trouble finding the basket and could not pull away only leading by 12, 41-29 at halftime.

The Pioneers picked up the tempo of the game in the second half and the scoring increased.  IRSC built the lead to 21 points on an ally-oop layup by true freshmen Ocypher Owens making the score 62-41.  The lead ballooned to 31 points on a Kyle Feit three-point shot from the wing, 86-55.  Jacksonville wasn't able to cut into the lead with Pioneers winning 92-62.

A.J. Cajuste led all scorers for "The River" with 21, followed by big man Bendji Pierre 19, Tyeree Bryan 15, and Jonathan Cisse added 10 points.  Bryan was dominate on the glass as well pulling in a game high 15 rebounds, as he recorded his first double-double as a Pioneer.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Junior College Shoot-Out will be held this weekend at two sites, Eastern Florida State College and St Petersburg State College.  IRSC will participate at the St. Petersburg site and take on the host school on Friday, November 12th at 2:30 p.m. and their Saturday match-up will be against the number sixth ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll, Northwest Florida, which will also be a 2:30 p.m. tip.
