IRSC Men Open Season with 119-72 Victory

IRSC Men Open Season with 119-72 Victory

Fort Pierce, Florida –Indian River State College (IRSC) Men Basketball Team coming off one of their best seasons in school history, had little trouble with North Florida Prep taking the win 119-72.  The Pioneers finished the 20-21 season with a 20-4 record, another Sothern Conference Championship, and their first appearance at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament.

IRSC jumped out to an early 16-0 lead and held a 25-6 advantage when Bradley Alcime threw down a two-handed jam.  The Pioneers had built a 30-point led by the half, 60-30.  The shots continued to fall in the second half as IRSC cruised to a 47-point win and their first win of the 2021-2022 season.

The Pioneers return only one player from last season, all-conference point guard A.J. Cajuste, but looks like they have added some quality players to their roster.   Five players scored in double-digits for IRSC led by Kyle Feit with 23 points including seven three-point baskets, Bendji Pierre 20, Tyeree Bryan 17, Cajuste 16, and Jonathan Cisse tossed in 15 points.

The Pioneers will be in action on the campus of Fort Pierce, Florida on Friday November 5th for the 5th Annual IRSC Men's Basketball Veteran's Classic sponsored by the Van Duzer Foundation.  They will take on Tallahassee Community College at 7:30 p.m., which will follow Daytona State against State College of Florida Manatee/ Sarasota with a tip-off at 5:30 p.m.

The Veteran's Classic was established as an opportunity to recognize local veterans for their service.  "We feel it is important to take time to recognize veterans for the sacrifices they have made for our country," stated Coach Charlie Wilson.  The tournament continues to bring in talented teams and this year will be no exception.
