Linton Brown Selected Male Athlete of The Year

Tallahassee, Florida – Linton Brown was announced by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) as the winner of the 2020-21 Male Athlete of the Year.  The nominees for this distinguished award were chosen from each FCSAA-sanctioned and non-sanctioned sports Player of the Year selections.  Brown had an unbelievable sophomore campaign leading Indian River State College (IRSC) to a 20-4 record and its first ever trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament where they advanced to the Elite Eight.  In his two years at IRSC they also won back-to-back Southern Conference Championships and an appearance in the 2020-21 FCSAA Region 8 championship game. 

He averaged 18.4 points per game while shooting 51.4% from the field and 48.3% from three-point range and pulled in 5.0 rebounds per game to go along with 1.5 assists.  He scored over 30 points three times this season with a career high 33 points against Palm Beach State College.  Other awards Brown has received this year included NJCAA First Team All American, National Association of Basketball Coaches First Team All American, All FCSAA Region 8 Player of the Year, Southern Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA All-State, and he was also selected to the FCSAA All-Tournament Team. "What a wonderful accomplishment! I couldn't be prouder of Linton, his dedication and hard work paid off for him this season", pointed out IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  Brown will attend St. Bonaventure University this fall.
