Linton Brown Player of the Year, Charlie Wilson Coach of the Year, 7 Players Honored

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team was well represented on the all-conference selection list released for the Southern Conference.  A total of seven members were selected to the all-conference list from the Pioneers' roster with the top honor going to Linton Brown who was selected Conference Player of the Year. The 6'5" Brown was third in the state in scoring with 18.3 points per game, he averaged 5.4 rebounds and shot 51.9% from three-point range.  He scored a career high 33 points against Palm Beach State College.

 Joining Brown on the All-State selection was teammate Antrell Charlton who came in fourth in the voting.  The 6'3" all-purpose guard averaged 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2 steals.  He had career highs of 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists this season and recorded his first triple double against Miami Dade College with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Also selected to the recorded 1st Team were Abdoulaye Thiam and A.J. Cajuste.  Thiam a freshman shooting guard was second on the team in scoring with 14.4 points per game and averaged 4.1 rebounds.  Cajuste, the crafty point guard, came on strong late in the season scoring double figures 6 of the last seven games. 

The first selection to the second team was Tanahj Pettway.  The point guard averaged 11.4 points per game and scored double figures 10 times this season.  Bryce Fitzgerald and Jacob Jackson rounded out the second team for IRSC.  Fitzgerald, the Pioneers big man averaged 8.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds.  Jackson, 6'6" shooting guard, averaged 10.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds on the season.

IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson was also recognized as the Southern Conference Coach of the Year.  Wilson's team finished the conference season with an impressive 10-2 record and were back-to-back Southern Conference Champs.  His teams have won the Southern Conference three out of the last four years.  He also won his 100th career win earlier in the year when IRCS defeated Pensacola State College and his career record is 115-53.   He has coached three Southern Conference Players of the Year award winners, one All-American, 6 All-State selections, and 38 All-Conference selections.
