Abdoulaye Thiam Named Region 8 Player Of The Week

Fort Pierce, Florida – Abdoulaye Thiam was announced as the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) player of the week.  The freshmen guard helped the #22 ranked Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team with two wins over Palm Beach State College and State College of Florida, Manatee/Sarasota. In the games, he averaged a 28.0 points per game, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals.  He shot an incredible 67.7 percent (21-31) from the field and 66.7 percent (12-18) from the three-point line and scored his career high as a IRSC Pioneer with 31 points against Palm Beach. 

Thiam was the second IRSC player to be named "Region 8 Player of the Week", sophomore Antrell Charlton was the first member being named "Region Player of the Week" on March 9th, when he helped lead the Pioneers to wins over #10 Florida Southwestern and Game Changer Academy.  He averaged 15.5 points per game, 12.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.2 steals in the two wins.
