#22 Pioneers Defeat Palm Beach 124-88

Palm Beach, Florida – Another big scoring night for the #22 ranked Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team helped to propel them to a 124-88 victory over Palm Beach State College.  The Pioneers jumped one spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Poll this week from 23rd to the #22 spot.

IRSC jumped out to a 22-10 lead when Mark-Anthony McReed stole the ball at half court and made a nice pass to Linton Brown who converted the lay-up.  Palm Beach fought back and cut the lead to single digits, and the half closed with IRSC leading 55-46.

The Pioneers started the second half with more intensity, and the pace of the game increased.  IRSC quickly built a 21-point advantage when Abdoulaye Thiam sank one of his seven three-point baskets from the corner making the score 77-56.  The hot shooting continued and the Pioneers cruised to their 13th win of the season, 124-88.  Brown had another big night scoring 33 points; this was his second 30-point outburst in back-to-back games.  Thiam also had a hot hand for IRSC with a career high 31, followed by A.J. Cajuste 18, and Jacob Jackson with 17.

IRSC's record is 13-2 overall, and they will take on State College of Florida, Manatee/Sarasota at home on Saturday, March 20th for a 2:00 p.m. start.
