IRSC Men’s Basketball Move To 7-1

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Pioneers got back to their winning ways on Monday evening as they defeated Game Changers Academy, 99-61.  Indian River State College (IRSC) jumped out to a 38-18 advantage when Tanahj Pettway drilled a three-point basket from the corner with just under 7 minutes remaining in the first half.   The Pioneers kept up the defensive pressure and went into the halftime break up 52-26.

IRSC didn't let up in the second half and increased the scoring margin to 40 points, when Bryce Fitzgerald connected on a jump shot, just above the free-throw line making the score 93-53.  The Pioneers went on to a 99-61 win and increased their win-loss record to 7-1.  IRSC had five players score in double digit, Pettway with 21, Fitzgerald 17, Linton Brown and Abdoulaye Thiam 15, and Nate Montaque added 13 points.  Rebounding leaders for the evening were Pettway and Thiam both with 11. 

The Pioneers will return to conference play on Saturday, February 20th for a home matchup with Miami Dade College at 2 p.m.
