IRSC Tops Palm Beach State, 87-65

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Pioneers increase their win total to 19 with a 22-point victory over Palm Beach State College on Wednesday, 87-65.  Indian River State College (IRSC) came out focused and gained a 10-0 advantage and held a double-digit lead going into the half, 35-23.

Palm Beach State scored the first basket of the second half cutting the lead back to 10 points, 35-25, but Miles Coleman hit back to back three-point shots and the lead ballooned to 16 points, 41-25.  Palm Beach cut the deficit to 10 points again, 52-42, but that was as close as the score would get for the remainder of the game.  Coleman grabbed a defensive rebound and hit Tadre Morse sprinting for the jam, increasing the Pioneer lead to 20 points, 74-54.  IRSC cruised on to an 87-65 win.  The win moved their Southern Conference record to 8-1 and 19-7 overall.

Coleman had another strong performance for the Pioneers by scoring 25 points, pulling in 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.  Drew LaMont had the hot hand early in the game and totaled 18 points, followed by Morse with 12, and DeJuan Lockett added 10.  Antrell Charlton dished out a team high 6 assist and Lockett led the team in rebounding with 7.  IRSC will be in action on Saturday, February 15th when they travel to Hialeah, Florida, to take on ASA College (Miami) at the Bucky Dent Recreational Center.  The game will begin at 4 p.m.
