IRSC Men’s Win Streak Moves to Nine
Hialeah, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team increased their win streak to nine by defeating ASA College (Miami), 90-73. The win moved IRSC's record to 13-6 and 2-0 in the Southern Conference.
The game was close in the early going with the Pioneers holding a slight lead, 13-6 after Drew LaMont scored a three-point basket. ASA went on their own offensive run and took a 31-26 advantage with just under 7 minutes to go in the first half. IRSC went to work on the offensive end of the floor, driving to the basket and attacking the offensive boards and countered with a 16-1 run and went into the half with a 42-34 lead.
ASA would not go away, scoring first in the second half and staying close in the second half. The Pioneers finally open the game on two free-throws by Linton Brown, making the score 82-61, their first 20-point lead of the game. They held that margin and went on to a 90-73 win.
Miles Coleman had another strong performance for IRSC by scoring 32 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, 2 steals and dishing out 5 assists in the game. Other scorers for the game were Brown 15, LaMont and DeJuan Lockett both scoring 14 points for the cause. Antrell Charlton had a season high 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists in the win.
The next game for the Pioneers will be on Wednesday January 15th, at 7:30 pm. when they take on Broward College. The game will be at home contest held on the Fort Peirce campus.
