IRSC Men Increase Win Streak To Seven

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team started off the New Year in the right way as they defeated Florida National's JV, 117 to 84.  This was the Pioneers seventh win in a row tying their 2017-18 streak.  IRSC took a 27-18 advantage when Linton Brown connected on a three-point shot with 11 minutes remaining in the first half.  The lead continued to grow throughout the first half, with Brown hitting again from deep at the halftime buzzer making the score 67-43.

The Pioneers increased the margin to 30 points on a Tanahj Pettway jumper, 88-58.  Tadre Morse drove baseline and finished strong at the rim pushing IRSC over the century mark, 101-69.  They continued to push the pace and finished with a 117-84 victory.  This was the eighth time the Pioneers have scored over 100 points as they average 92.4 points per game.  Seven IRSC Men scored in double figures led by Morse with 20 points, followed by Miles Coleman 16, Pettway 15, Linton Brown and DeJuan Lockett 13, Drew LaMont 11, and A.J. Cajuste chipped in 10.  Coleman pulled in a team high 8 rebounds as the Pioneers outrebounded Florida National 41-21.  Cajuste dished out 6 assists and leads the team with a 3.8 average per game.

IRSC improved their record to 11-6.  The Pioneers were scheduled to travel to Tampa, FL to take on Hillsborough College on Jan 4th, but that game had to be canceled.  IRSC will now get ready to start Southern Conference play that will begin Wednesday when they host Palm Beach State. Tip-off will be 7:30 pm.
