IRSC Men Win Three In A Row

Fort Pierce, Florida – In a season which has had some ups and downs for the Pioneers they seem to have found their stride, as they defeated Hillsborough College, 101-77.  Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team upset the #7th ranked team in the nation, Chipola last Saturday 104-89, then defeated Florida National JV 111-76 on Wednesday, and the win over Hillsborough gave them their third victory in a row.

The game was close in the first half against Hillsborough with IRSC only holding a three-point advantage at the half, 39-36.  The offense got going in the second by scoring 62 points.  Drew LaMont helped break the game open, when he got hot from the outside with back to back three-point baskets giving the Pioneers a 71-52 lead with just under 10 remaining in the game.  Miles Coleman drove the middle and hit a pull-up jump-shot increasing the margin to 21, 84-63 and Hillsborough could get no closer as IRSC went on to their seventh win of the year.

Coleman scored 21 points for the Pioneers followed by LaMont with 15 (including 5 three-pointers), Linton Brown 15, and Tadre Morse had a solid performance, scoring 10 points and pulling in 11 rebounds in the game.  IRSC will compete in the Florida Junior College Shoot-out Saturday, November 14th and 15th in Gainesville, Florida at Santa Fe College.  They will take on the host team, Santa Fe College on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Gulf Coast State College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
