Pioneers Have 5 Selected To All-Conference

Fort Pierce, Florida – The Southern Conference has announced their men's basketball all conference selections for the 2018-2019 season. The Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team landed 5 members on the first or second teams. Selected to the Southern Conference 1st Team was 6'3" sophomore shooting guard, Kimani Binder. Binder leads the state of Florida in scoring average with 22.9 points per game which ranks him in the top ten nationally. He has scored 1,009 total points in his career at IRSC and started 54 of the 59 games he participated in. Binder scored 30 points or better in 5 games with a career high of 38 points against Daytona State. He was also a first team all-conference selection last season. Binder is from Orlando, Florida, and graduated from Evans High School.

Freshmen 6'3" guard Jai Clark was also selected to the Southern Conference 1st team. Clark has quickly made a name for himself as a long range shooter. He currently leads the nation in three-point shots made with 133. Clark who is from Apopka, Florida, is second on the team in scoring average with 15.2 points per game and shooting 44% from behind the 3-point line. Clark has scored double figures 23 times this season and has a career high of 34 points.

Joining the first team was 6'9" power forward Charlie "Big Country" Daniels. The sophomore big man from Jacksonville, Florida, and a graduate of The Potter's House averaged 10 points per game and 7.2 rebounds for the Pioneers. He is shooting 58.5% from the field which ranks him 7th in Region 8. Daniels has participated in 48 games in his career at IRSC.

DeJuan Lockett 6'6" freshmen forward was the first member of the Southern Conference Second Team. Lockett, an Orlando Florida native and graduate of Orlando Christian Prep, has had an outstanding first year with the Pioneers. Lockett is averaging 11.0 points per game and shooting 56.8% from the field. He has pulled in 160 rebounds for a 5.7 average.

The final member selected to the all-conference team was 6'3" sophomore guard Kahleel Ellis-Garcia. Ellis-Garcia, who is from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was a very solid all-around player for the Pioneers. He has averaged 9.1 points per game, pulled in 6.1 rebounds and dished out 3.3 assist in his lone season with IRSC. Known for his defensive ability, many nights he guarded the opponent's best shooter.
