Kimani Binder Breaks The 1,000 Point Mark

Indian River State College sophomore shooting guard Kimani Binder scored his 1,000 point on Saturday at Broward College. The 6'3" Orlando Florida native and graduate of Evan High School scored 17 points in the game giving him a total of 1,008 points for his two-year career with one guaranteed final home contest remaining. "Kimani has been consistent since the day he arrived on campus," stated Head Coach Charlie Wilson. "He is a gifted player who has the ability to score at all three levels. I am proud of the work Kimani has put in developing his game. To cross the 1,000 point mark in just 58 games in the Region we play in really shows the type of player Kimani is. I am proud he is a Pioneer."

Binder currently has scored 641 points and is the leading scorer in Region 8 averaging 22.9 points per game which also ranks in the top ten nationally. He has scored 30 points five times this season with a career high of 38 points against Daytona State on January 5th. He has scored double figures in 45 of the 58 games in which he has played.

He was a 1st Team All-Conference selection as a freshman when he averaged 11.8 points per game and scored 367 points on an IRSC team which went 23-8 and were Southern Conference Champions.
