Indian River Takes Game One at Home Against Polk

FORT PIERCE, FL- Indian River takes game one in the series against Polk State College. The River improves to 25-8 overall and 15-4 in Citrus Conference play.
Indian River got on the board in the second inning after Nico Lopez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Polk answered in the top of the third with a two-run home run, putting them ahead 2-1. Indian River flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Scout Simpson, scoring two runs.
Lucas Glendinning took the mound first for The River. He allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Javi Miranda and Justin Minaberry combined for four innings, striking out eight while not allowing a run. Indian River tallied ten hits in the game. Brett Patten, Jason Lashley, Scout Simpson, and Jacob Souza each collected two hits. Nico Lopez and Simpson each drove in two runs.
The River will hit the road, March 29 as they head to Winter Haven to finish the series against Polk State.
