Pioneers Slug Past Dade

MIAMI, FL - Indian River slugged there way to a 13-1 win over Miami Dade Thursday night. Matthew Rubin drove in four runs on four hits to lead the Pioneers. This puts the Pioneers at 30-10 overall and 18-7 in Citrus Conference play.

The Pioneers tallied 17 hits in the game Danny Baez and Matthew Rubin each collected four hits. AJ Hunerburg and Jacob Weatherspoon also swung a hot bat both adding multiple hit games. Angelo Smith got the start for Indian River getting his fourth win of the year. He went six innings only allowing three hits not allowing a run and striking out 6. Freshman Andris Barroso threw the last inning striking out one. The Pioneers scored in five different innings with the big one being the seventh where they scored eight runs.

The Pioneers look to take the series as they host Miami Dade Saturday, April 13, for the final two games.
