Pioneers Drop Game One on The Road

WINTER HAVEN, FL - The Pioneers bats were not clicking in game one scattering eight hits over nine innings only being able to drive in the one run in the second inning by Makiol Lucena. Seven different hitters for Indian River got hits freshman Brett Patten leading the way with two and Matthew Rubin hitting his second triple of the year.

The pitching staff was solid combing for ten strike outs while only walking one. Angelo Smith got the nod for the Pioneers going six innings and striking out seven while Jace Trautner threw two innings of relief striking out three and not allowing a run. Seven different hitters for Indian River got hits freshman Brett Patten leading the way with two and Matthew Rubin hitting his second triple of the year.

Indian River drops game one on the road to Polk State 5-1. This will bring the Pioneers to 12-7 in Citrus Conference play and 24-10 overall. 

The Pioneers will look to bounce back Saturday, March 30, at home for game two and three.
