Pioneers Struggle on the Road

GAINESVILLE, FL - Indian River opened up Citrus Conference play with a road loss to Santa Fe 8-1. Indian River took a lead in the first inning but couldn't get much going after that. Santa Fe scored and took the lead in fourth inning adding insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings. The Pioneers drop to 4-2 in conference play 12-6 overall.

Freshman Lucas Glendinning gets his first loss of the season in the strong effort. The right-hander went six innings carrying a no-hitter into the 5th inning only giving up two hits on the day and striking out six. Chris Knier and Michael Malone finished the game for Indian River striking out three over the next two innings.

Pioneer bats were cold spraying six hits over the course of the game. Vincent Samuel lead the team with two hits. Indian River will look to get back on track Saturday, March 2, as Santa Fe will travel to Indian River for a double header to finish the series.
