Pioneers Win In Extras

SANFORD, FL - Indian River moves to 6-3 with an extra innings win over Seminole State 11-6. This win is Pioneers sixth win a row, which is currently the second longest winning streak in the state.

Pioneers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a Jason Lashley two-run home run but that was erased by a couple miscues. A four run eighth inning tied the game for the Pioneers with big RBIs from Matthew Lashley, Vincent Samuel and Jake Weatherspoon. The biggest swing of the day was from sophomore Matthew Rubin in the top of the tenth inning, Rubin hit a grand slam to put the Pioneers ahead by five.

CJ Hanson, sophomore right handed pitcher from Tampa, got his first win of the year in relief. Hanson only gave up four hits over five innings keeping the Seminole State lineup at bay. Freshman Michael Malone and Justin Minaberry both worked clean innings in relief. Diego Alana has himself a day with a season high in hits with five.

Pioneers will be looking to extend their winning streak Tuesday, February 13, on the road at Palm Beach State
