The River Offense Explodes Late to Defeat South Florida State College

The Pioneers were clicking on all cylinders in Monday's game against South Florida State College.  The River took the lead in the 6th inning, thanks to an RBI single by Brett Mercier.  The team never looked back from there as they continued to build onto the lead to secure an 8-2 victory.

Michael Stovman was the starter for the Pioneers on Monday.  Stovman delivered a solid performance going 4 2/3 innings surrendering 2 runs and striking out 3.  Zach Audet received the win going 1/3 of an inning and retiring the only batter he faced.  Jarred Morgan and Malik Lissone both did their jobs out of the pen, coming through with a scoreless inning each.  Tyler Lavery shut the door and recorded the final 6 outs for IRSC.  Lavery did so by allowing 0 runs, and striking out 2.

Axel Salgado remained on fire for The River offense.  Salgado led the team in hits by going 3-5.  Hunter Holland and Cole Brutcher were 2nd on the team with 2 hits each and also driving in 1 run each.  It was a total team effort by the offense on Monday, as 6 different guys contributed with RBI's for The River ball club.

IRSC will be back in action on Wednesday at home, where they will be opening up conference play against Broward College at 2 PM.
