Gilmore, Oberst, Hrica, and Snyder earn Southern Conference post season honors.
Four players from the River's 2017 baseball team received honors this season as voted on by the conference coaches.
Kohl Gilmore was the sole Pioneer to earn first team. Gilmore hit .364, had 9 home runs, and added to that an impressive 1,069 O.P.S. Kohl was the top long ball threat in the Rivers offense once Dan Oberst suffered a season ending injury. For players receiving 100 or more at bats for the pioneers, Gilmore lead the team in batting average, home runs, O.P.S, RBI'S, and doubles. Gilmore looks to work hard and comeback in the fall of 2017 and build on this impressive season
Dan Oberst received 2nd team All-Southern Conference at catcher, despite only playing in 12 conference games. That's all it took for Oberst to make an impression on the league as he hit .392, and had an O.P.S of .985. Oberst was also a shut-down catcher on defense and served as the heart and soul of the Pioneer Squad.
Aj Hrica made his mark on the conference in his freshman campaign. Aj emerged as the sparkplug for the Pioneer offense, and played an exceptional centerfield. Aj hit .337, and had an on base percentage close to .400. Aj started every game in center field for The Pioneers. His stellar defense and ability to get on base is something the Pioneers will lean on next season.
Closing out the River's honors was Nick Snyder, who was voted as the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches. Snyder fielded a superb .971 while starting every game at short stop. Snyder was the backbone of The Pioneer's defense, known around the league for his athleticism and excellent arm strength. Snyder also hit .313 on the year with 7 doubles.
