Indian River closed out their 2017 campaign Saturday afternoon in Fort Pierce against Broward College.
The Pioneers sent three sophomores to the mound for their final outings for The River (George Helbig, Andres Fernandez, and Nick Snyder). A two run first inning set the tone for a long afternoon of climbing uphill to get back into the game.
The Pioneers appeared to be making headway as they pulled within one at the end of the fifth on three consecutive extra base hits by Summers, Simmons, and Hrica. Unfortunately, a five run explosion in the top of the sixth ended the threat and the Seahawks coasted to a 10-3 victory.
As the season comes to a close we would like to thank all of those who were able to make it out and support the 2017 team, and look forward to seeing you next fall for another season of Pioneer Baseball.
