River Clean Up Successful

River Clean Up Successful

After a series opening loss to Broward, Indian River looked to bounce back and take one win away in enemy territory Wednesday.

Broward and Indian River are in a tight battle for the four spot in the conference standings and this game would have a large role in determining who will claim it. The Pioneers got a big headstart from Elijah Finney who battled for five innings and left the game with a lead.

Defensively the Pioneers played a clean game with only one miscue coming in the 8th inning. The offense would make up for it scoring three ninth inning runs to put the Pioneers ahead for good as they prevail 7-4. A big addition as the Pioneers have won two out of three has been the production from Bo Simmons and Thomas Summers who struggled early but seem to be coming on late as the Pioneers look to shake things up in the conference down the stretch. Getting the win was Brando Centrone who pitched the final four innings out of the pen, after starting in his last few appearances.

The River will be off this weekend and back in action Tuesday afternoon at Miami-Dade College.
