Pioneers fall to SCOF

Pioneers fall to SCOF

Starting for the Pioneers was freshman right-hander Tyler Suellentrop. Suellentrop pitched well in his opening start against Santa Fe, leaving with a 6-2 lead through four innings of work. He did not fare as well in his second go-round. Suellentrop was followed by Justin Mason and Bo Simmons who each worked two innings before Edward Mckenna and Thomas Summers split the 9th. Offensively the story was timely hitting. The two offenses managed 13 hits a piece and added 1 homer respectively. For the Pioneers the home run came off the bat of Blake Ebo, the 1st of his collegiate career. The Pioneers struggled with runners in scoring position all afternoon and couldn't muster up that big hit to springboard them to a big inning, and back into the game. Other than the Ebo home run, some bright spots were Dan Oberst's 3-4 performance with 2 2Bs and AJ Hrica and Nick Snyder adding two hits a piece. The Pioneers are right back in action today at 2:00 against South Florida. Making his first college start for the Pioneers will be Elijah Finney.
