The River Faces Tough Home Stand Against Panhandle Opponents

The River Faces Tough Home Stand Against Panhandle Opponents

FORT PIERCE, FL - The River Volleyball team hosted a challenging home weekend, welcoming two strong Panhandle Conference opponents to the court at Indian River State College.

On Friday, October 10, The River opened play against Pensacola State College in a competitive three-set match. Despite steady effort and several long rallies, the home team couldn't find the edge late in each set, falling 19-25, 21-25, 22-25. Defensively, The River showed solid back-row coverage and fought to keep momentum on their side, but the Pirates' consistent attack proved too much down the stretch.

The following afternoon, The River returned to the court to face Gulf Coast State College. The Commodores came out swinging early, and although The River battled to gain rhythm offensively, Gulf Coast held control throughout the match to take the win in three sets (11-25, 15-25, 20-25). The River showed resilience in the final set, stringing together several strong defensive plays and key service runs to close the gap late.

Next up for The River is a road matchup at South Florida State College on Wednesday, October 14.
