The River Battles Hard but Falls to St. Johns River in Four-Set Thriller

FORT PIERCE, FL — In front of an energetic home crowd Friday night, The River Volleyball team went toe-to-toe with conference rival St. Johns River in an intense four-set battle. Despite a dominant opening set, The River ultimately fell 1–3 (25-14, 15-25, 26-28, 25-27).

The River came out firing in the first set, using sharp serving and aggressive swings to take control early and cruise to a 25-14 win. The Vikings regrouped quickly, answering with strong defense and timely kills to even the match in set two.

The third and fourth sets were dog fights from start to finish. Both teams traded long rallies and clutch points, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The River pushed each frame to extra points but couldn't quite close the gap, dropping 26-28 and 25-27 in back-to-back heartbreakers.

The River will look to bounce back in their next matchup tomorrow, Saturday, October 4, at home against Lake-Sumter State College.
