Schedule Set for 2022 River Volleyball Season

Schedule Set for 2022 River Volleyball Season

Indian River Volleyball is approaching the 2022 season, and with the upcoming season, Head Coach Jordan Bickett has released this year's schedule.

The Pioneers have 28 matches slated for the 2022 season, 11 of which will occur at home at the Massey Campus Gymnasium.

The Pioneers are coming off a 7-15 season after dealing with a tough start and some paperwork issues causing the forfeiture of some of their early games. They finished 6-10 in conference play and ended the season 6th in the State Tournament. This made it three straight years the Pioneers have made it to the State Tournament to compete for a ticket to the National Tournament.

This year, the Pioneers are bringing back FCSAA All-State First Team Outside Hitter Greta Klotz, COVID-Sophomore Rightside Re'na Ashley as well as Middle Blocker Nadia Lewis from St. Petersburg, FL. The three will serve as the core to a roster that will have 13 new faces for the 2022 season.

The Pioneers kick off their 2022 campaign with exhibition matches at home in tournament type play against Lynn University, Lake Sumter State College, Barry University and Florida Southwestern on August 13th.

On August 17th the team will divide into two and play a fun but competitive series of games in our annual Blue and Gold scrimmage. This is a great opportunity to come out and get to know the team.

There is quick turnaround from there, the Pioneers are going to hop on a plane to fly across the country to Salt Lake City, UT for the UFirst Mountain Invite hosted by Salt Lake Community College. There they will play matches against College of Southern Idaho, Snow, Salt Lake, and Utah State University-Eastern on the 19-20th of August

Upon returning home, IRSC will host South Florida State College for their home opener match on August 23rd, then quickly turnaround and head to the other coast of Florida for another tournament. The Pioneers will be attending the Battle at the Beach tournament hosted by Florida Southwestern for the second year in a row August 26-27. There, they will compete against Central Wyoming, Trinity Valley, Jefferson, and will have a rematch against Utah State University-Eastern.

The River opens up their conference schedule against Daytona State on September 6th, hosting at the Massey gym.

Following that, IRSC will travel to Hillsborough and compete in their first conference road match on September 8th.

The Pioneers then return home for a non-conference tri match against Morton College (IL) and Webber University JV on the 10th of September.

Over the following week the Pioneers stay on the road, first taking on local rival Eastern Florida on September 15th. Following that they will face last years Suncoast Conference leaders back to back with Florida Southwestern on September 17th and then down to Miami-Dade on the 22nd.

The following week features a 3-game home stint starting out playing Sante Fe on September 24th. Next up is the Eagles of Polk State on September 29th and wrapping up with a Saturday match against HCC on October 1st.

The River takes a short road trip next, heading up to Daytona State for their second meeting of the year on the 6th of October.

Returning from Daytona, the Pioneers will be at home for two weeks as they begin to prepare for postseason. On October 8th, they host Eastern Florida, followed by the "Pink Out" match against Florida Southwestern on the 13th. Continuing their tough week, they then play Miami Dade on October 15th, and they hope to get their first home win against the Sharks since 2014. IRSC finishes up their home stretch with a non-conference match versus Palm Beach State.

Indian River will conclude their regular season with a three-game road trip, facing Sante Fe on October 20th, Polk State on the 22nd of October and non-conference rematch against South Florida State on October 26.
