IRSC Swimming and Diving Versus University of Tampa

The IRSC swimming and diving teams returned to action for the second half of the season by hosting the University of Tampa on Friday January 4th  at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex located on the main

campus of IRSC in Fort Pierce. This was the team's first dual meet after their successful mid-season meet in December and the holidays.

Despite coming away with a loss, it was a good day for the women's team with 3 individual wins. These came from sophomore Sule van der Merwe in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events, and from freshman Charlise Oberholzer in the 500 freestyle. Tampa's women managed to win the remainder of the 14 events and secure a win with the final score being 179-83.

The men's competition saw IRSC come away with the victory having won 8 of the 14 events. Leading the way for IRSC was freshman Jarryd Baxter who took victories in the 1000 free, 200 back, , and 200 IM. Ruben van Leeuwen also had multiple wins with victories in the 100 and 200 fly, while Josh Stegen and Olle Williamsson each came away with the victory in the 200 free and 500 respectively. The 400 freestyle relay team of Ruben van Leeuwen, Ryen van Wyk, Josh Stegen, and Kevin Bargate took the win to close out he meet with a final score of 145-117.

IRSC will next travel to Florida Southern University on January 18th for their final head to head dual meet of the season.
