Women's Basketball Blows Out Miami Dade to Win Conference Title

Thursday Afternoon in Fort Pierce, Fl Indian River State Women's Basketball Wins Southern Conference Championship for the first time since 2011. The Pioneers defeated Miami Dade 92-34 in a dominating performance.

"I am very proud of my team tonight, we've been talking about competing for 40 minutes and tonight I believe we did that. Winning this title shows the hard work each player has put in throughout the season" Coach Robinson noted.

The Pioneers had 6 players in double digits, led by freshmen Makala Torrence who scored 15 points, four rebounds and two assists. Rapuluchi Ngorka added 12 points, 15 rebounds three blocks and two assists. Kailyn Peters had a big game off the bench scoring 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jasmine Peaks tallied 11 points, five rebounds and six assists. Sophomores Tavi Habib added 10 points and seven rebounds; Claire Simmons scored 10 points as well with five rebounds and two assists.

Before the start of tonight's game Rapuluchi Ngorka was recognized for scoring 1000 points and grabbing 1000 rebounds.

With the win, the Pioneers are 24-4 on the season and 7-1 in southern conference play. The Pioneers will finish regular season play on the road February 20th against Hillsborough Community College at 5:30pm.
