Women's Basketball Remain Undefeated at Home

Indian River women's basketball earns their second southern conference win against Miami Dade Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers put on an offensive clinic outscoring MDC 102-58, shooting an impressive 48% from the field and 46% from the 3pt line. The Pioneers had a season high 18 assist, Janiah Alexander had nine of her own.

"We've been on the road, majority of this season. It was good to come home and shoot the ball the way we did. I thought we dominated from start to finish, as a group we've been talking about playing high level basketball for 40 minutes, tonight we did that" Coach Robinson mentioned.

All the women basketball players scored in Saturday win, six players scored double digits. Rapuluchi Ngorka continues to play at a high level contributing 16 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore shooting guard Shomari Phillips added 16 points, shooting an impressive 71% from the field and beyond the arc. Tavi Habib added 14 points, four rebounds and two assists. Claire Simmons had a breakout game scoring a season high 13 points, two rebounds and two assists. Janiah Alexander stuffed the stat sheet scored 10 points, nine assist, five rebounds and three steals. Freshmen Kailyn Peters contributed 10 points, two rebounds and two assists.

With the win, the Pioneers are 18-3 on the season; 2-0 in southern conference play. The River will be on the road Wednesday evening in Tampa to close out the first round of conference play.
