Indian River Goes 1 – 1 at the Pete Arrington Classic

Friday afternoon in Americus, GA Indian River defeated Albany Tech 82-54. In the first quarter the Pioneers got off to a slow start going into the second half only up 1 point. In the second quarter, the Pioneers forced a single digit quarter only giving up 8 points, taking a 37 – 21 lead going into halftime.

Rapuluchi Ngorka led all scorers with 19 points and 17 rebounds, Makala Torrence added 12 points and Janiah Alexander contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

In the second matchup, Indian River was defeated 67-59. The Pioneers offensive did not flow effective causing a poor shooting night which cause for the Pioneers to only score 9 points in the third quarter. In the fourth the Pioneers fought back to cut the led to 6 points before giving up a fast break layup. With the lost Indian River is 6 – 1 and currently ranked 23rd in the nation.

"As a coach you never want to lose games, but losing to nationally ranked program will allow us to go back to the film room and improve on the areas we struggled in" Coach Robinson mentioned.

The River will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Florida Juco Shootout, against Chipola and Pensacola State College.
