Pioneers Defeat SPC at Home

Tuesday afternoon in Fort Pierce, Indian River State College defeated St Petersburg College 74 – 70. In a highly contested matchup, The River was tied at 19 in the first quarter. Defensively the Pioneers picked it up and led SPC to single digit quarter only giving up 7 points.  After halftime, SPC came back cutting the River lead to 4 points before Tavi Habib took over in the fourth scoring 11 points.  

 The Pioneers had three players in double digits, Tavi Habib led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Shomari Phillips added 12 points, three rebounds, three assist and Jasmine Peaks scored 12 points and 10 assists.

"I thought we came out aggressive on both of the floor, after halftime we became relax and went away from what we do well. Late in the fourth we found away to get it done. Habib showed up big for us late, after having two starters foul out" Coach Robinson noted.

With the win The River is 5-0 on the season and will be heading to South Georgia Tech to play in the Pete Arrington classic on Friday and Saturday.
