Women’s Basketball Earns Two Wins at Palm Beach Tournament

Friday Afternoon in Lake Worth, Indian River State College hosted Nationally Ranked Illinois Central. The Pioneers jumped out to a 22 – 3 lead and never looked back. Indian River defeated Illinois Central 75 – 64, three Pioneers was in double Digits Jasmine Peaks added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Rapuluchi Ngorka tallied another double double scoring 17 point and a season high 21 rebounds. Sophomore Guard Tavi Habib added 11 points, five rebounds, five assist and three steals.

"At the start of the game, we jumped out to an 18 – 0 led. We were clicking on all cylinders, in the second half went away from defending at a high level which cause us to struggle. Overall, I am happy we pulled out the win, we are still working on playing 40 minutes consistently."

In the second Matchup Indian River defeated Florida State of Jacksonville 82 – 63, the Pioneers took the led in the first quarter and never looked back. Rapuluchi Ngorka scored 20 points and 12 rebounds, Sophomore Tavi Habib scored 12 points and seven rebounds and Makala Torrence tallied 12 points.

With the win The River is 4 – 0 on the season, next matchup is Tuesday November 22nd against Saint Petersburg.
