Pioneers Women’s Basketball Team Storm Past Warner

Sunday afternoon in Lake Wales, FL Indian River State College travel to Warner University to play their junior varsity team. The Pioneers started off on fire outscoring The Royals 24 – 9 in the first quarter; they will go on and earn their first win of the season defeating Warner 102 – 45.

All players contributed in the Pioneers win, Sophomore Shomari Phillips led all scorers with 24 points, shooting an impressive 47%.   Rapuluchi Ngorka tallied 15 points and 25 rebounds, Tavi Habib added 11 points and five rebounds, freshmen Kailyn Peters scored 11 points and three rebounds. Jasmine Peaks contributed 10 points and five steals. 

Coach Robinson noted "it was good to final get on the floor, we started off with a couple cancellations which caused us to start late. I like the way we defended today, we will need those efforts going forward."

The Pioneers will be back in action, Tuesday November 8th against Saint Petersburg College at 5:30pm and on Saturday at Noon against Santa Fe College.
