Women’s Basketball Wins Two at Tallahassee Classic

Friday afternoon in Tallahassee Florida, Indian River State College played against Monroe College. At the beginning of the contest The Pioneers jumped out to a 21 – 2 lead, holding the Mustangs to only two points in the first quarter. The River would go on to win 74 – 42 to pick up their fourth win of the season.

Maryanne Logsdon lead the Pioneers with 28 points, shooting 9 for 17 from the field and 5 for 6 from the free-throw line. Logsdon also added 12 rebounds and five assists. Amarie Godwin contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, five assist and three steals. Freshmen Tavi Habib added 11 points and six rebounds.

In the second game on Saturday against Tallahassee, the Pioneers started off slow only scoring nine points to TCC 22. The River begin to wake up in the second half outscoring the eagles 23 – 15, cutting the deficit to 5 points going into halftime.

After halftime The Pioneers came out on fire outscoring TCC 25 – 8, which cause for the Pioneers to pick up another win. The River had four players in double digits, Shomari Phillips led all scorers with 15, Tavi Habib earned her second double double tallying 13 points and 10 rebounds. Brianna Raynor earned her first double double scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Maryanne Logsdon added 10 points and four rebounds.

With the win The Pioneers are heading into Thanksgiving Break 5 – 3, on Saturday November 27th they will travel to Santa Fe for 2pm tip.
