Women’s Basketball Suffer Tough Road Loss

Saturday Afternoon Indian River State College Women's Basketball program traveled to Palm Beach State College in a non-conference matchup. The Pioneers slow start struggles continued as Palm Beach jumped out to an 8 – 0 lead before Amari Godwin attacked the rim for 2 points. After going back and forth the Pioneers settled in late in the second quarter to take a 5-point lead going into halftime.

In the third quarter the Pioneers, offensive efforts begin to pick up following a key midrange pull up by Tavi Habib to put the River up by 10 points. As the game progress, The Pioneers begin to turn the ball over which led to easy transition points for the Panthers. Who would eventually win in overtime 92 – 84, "At the end of the day we have to do a better job managing the game, being up by 10 points with 4 minutes to go. We became too relaxed and failed to get defensive stops," Coach Robinson noted.

Freshmen Tavi Habib lead all scorers with 30 points and nine rebounds. Maryanne Logsdon added 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Freshmen Shomari Phillips contributed 15 points, six rebounds and three steals. Amari Godwin added 12 points, four rebounds.

With the loss the Pioneers are 2 – 3 on the season, next game is Tuesday evening at Home against Saint Petersburg College.
