Women’s Basketball defeats FNU JV

Saturday afternoon in Haleigh, FL Indian River State College defeated Florida National JV 86 to 53. The River started the game clicking on all cylinders, jumping out to a 12 to 2 lead. Pioneers had four athletes in double digits. Freshmen guard Jaqarra Phillips contributed 17 points, five rebounds and two assist. Nyanna Williams added 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Breanna Campbell added 14 points as well. Sophomore Leah Dunn scored 11 points with five rebounds.

Coach Robinson mentioned, "Today we came out and played our type of basketball, we wanted to push the tempo and defend at a high level, at halftime we only gave up 24 points which is huge for us. We also rebound the basketball well with a season high of 54 including 25 offensive rebounds. I am proud of the way we competed today; we'll take this win and build upon it."

Indian River Pioneers have a big test in front of them when Daytona State College come to town Tuesday November 19th, tip off will be at 5:30pm.
