Coach Atkinson Inducted Into to the Class of 2023 NJCAA Hall Of Fame

Dale Atkinson is in his 25th season as the head softball coach at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL.  Atkinson concluded his 24th season with a record of 1,054-281.  Throughout his illustrious coaching career, more than 200 student-athletes in the Indian River State softball program have been named All-Southern Conference, 82 have been named FCSAA All-State, and 27 have earned NJCAA All-America honors. The Indian River State softball field was renamed the 'Dale Atkinson Field' in honor of his coaching success. He also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director in the Pioneers' athletic department.  

Atkinson has been awarded 18 Southern Conference Coach of the Year awards, five NJCAA Region 8A Coach of the Year awards, and three FSCAA Coach of the Year awards. He also received NFCA Coach of the Year honors, and he and his staff were voted National Junior College Coaching Staff of the Year as well as NFCA Southern Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Atkinson has been inducted into the FSCAA Hall of Fame, the IRSC Hall of Fame, and the St. Lucie County Athletic Hall of Fame.
