Indian River Falls in the FCSAA State Championship Tournament

IRSC women's softball teams season came to an end at the FCSAA State Championship in a hard-fought extra inning loss to Chipola on Saturday.

IRSC had the lead most of the game but Chipola tied the score late and scored the decisive run in the top of the 8th inning to secure the win for the Indians. 

Freshman outfielder Kyla Knier blasted two homeruns for the Pioneers.

The Southern Conference Champion Pioneers finished the season with a 32-19 record, winning their eighth consecutive Southern Conference title.

The 2022 Southern Conference Champion Pioneers placed 11 players on the 2022 All-Southern Conference teams. Devan Ryan, Taylor Wroten, Raelyn Rowland, Cassidy Crump, Daija Torchia, and Maeghan Branche were selected to the All-Conference 1st Team.  Kyla Knier, Kelsey Ganci, Madison Knight, Taylor Barrett, and Bridgett Dunham were selected to the 2nd team.

Devan Ryan was named the "Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year" and was selected to the FCSAA All-State 1st team, Taylor Wroten was named to the FCSAA All-State 2nd team, and coach Dale Atkinson was named the "Sothern Conference Coach of the Year."
