Lady Pioneers Take Two from State College of Florida Manatee

The Indian River State College Lady Pioneer softball team won both games of a double-header against visiting SCF on Tuesday in Ft. Pierce.  IRSC won the first game of the day 9-1 and took game two 9-0.

Kirsty Granville got the offense going in the 1st inning of the opening game, doubling off the right field fence driving in the game's first run.

Indian River tallied four more runs in the fourth inning.  Macie Stanfield and Morgan Roberts each had run scoring hits in big scoring inning for the Pioneers.

Freshman pitcher Taylor Wroten (6-0) allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking one.

IRSC racked up nine hits in the game. Roberts, Granville and Maeghan Branche each collected two hits to lead Pioneers offense.

In the second game of the day IRSC once again the Pioneers offense got going quickly when freshman Maeghan Branche hit her third homerun of the season, a massive two run shot over the left field fence.

"The River" added three runs in the fifth inning to close out the scoring in the 9-0 win. The big hit in the inning was freshman Morgan Roberts's first homerun of the season, a three run walk off shot to end the game.

Freshman pitcher Jaden Williamson (6-0) was dominant in the circle for Indian River. She went four innings, allowing one hit, no runs, struck out three, and walked one.

Indian River collected eight hits in the game.  Roberts, Tayler Owen, and Branche each managed two hits to lead team's offense.

The 14-0 Pioneers, currently ranked fourteenth in the latest NJCAA Poll, return to the diamond this Saturday taking on Polk State.  Game times in Ft. Pierce are 1:00 & 3:00.
