Indian River Takes Two from Miami Dade

Indian River State College took both games of a double-header defeating Miami Dade 7-6 and 10-2 Saturday afternoon in Ft. Pierce.

In the 7-6 win the Pioneers took the lead for good in the fifth inning when Brittini Norwood doubled on a 2-2 pitch driving in the game winning run.

Sophomore pitcher Dawn Bodrug (13-6) was credited with the win. Bodrug allowed five hits over seven innings, striking out seven.

IRSC collected 11 hits in the game. Headley, Norwood, Mya Maddox, and Brooke Mathews each racked up multiple hits. Headley led the offense with three hits in four at bats.

In game two, IRSC defeated Miami Dade 10-2.

In the first inning, IRSC got their offense started when Juliana Speranza hit her eleventh homerun of the season.

Freshman pitcher Hailey Astill (5-3) led the Pioneers to victory in the pitcher's circle. She allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one.
IRSC tallied ten hits in the game. Juhle Prange, Taylor Dyal, and Headley each racked up two hits each to pace the offense.

The 22-13 Pioneers (6-2) will travel Monday to take on conference leading Eastern Florida. Game times in Melbourne are 4:00 & 6:00.
