Bio

Manabu ‘Manny’ Noguchi enters his 7th season at Indian River State College (IRSC) as the assistant swimming coach, recruiting coordinator, and aquatics director. For last 6 seasons at the IRSC, Coach Manny Noguchi has helped leading the men’s team to their 48th NJCAA National Championship and the women to their 44th championship. The team has broken numerous both NJCAA national and school records during his tenure. In 2019, he was the recipient of the Dr. Jake Cistriano “Service Award.” Besides being the assistant college swim coach for IRSC, he has been the head club coach for Indian River Aquatics (RATS). Coach Manny led the team being 76th age-group team in the US (in 2021) and has coached multiple national and junior national qualifiers as well as multiple FL age-group champions in every season.
 
Prior to arriving at the IRSC, he was the assistant swimming coach and a recruiting coordinator at Florida Atlantic University for 2 seasons where he coached a female swimmer qualified for D-1 NCAA championships and a male swimmer qualified for 2016 Olympic Trials. Furthermore, he helped many swimmers setting school records as well as earning numerous academic honors.
Before joining at the FAU, Coach Manny coached at University of Wyoming focusing on recruiting and coaching middle distance/distance/IM group. He helped coach and mentor many athletes both to All-MW honors and to All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors/Western Athletic Conference.
 
In 2014, Noguchi guided 3 athletes to winning individual events at the WAC championships and was instrumental in having those athletes qualify for the D-1NCAA championships. Another of his athletes would also go on to earn a national title in the 100-m butterfly in New Zealand. During his time at UW, Noguchi also helped to lead many athletes of the team breaking varsity records, supported guiding swimmers to NCAA championships, and to the 2012 Olympic Trials with 6 athletes.
Prior to his time at Wyoming, he was at Michigan State University where he was an assistant swimming coach and recruiting coordinator for 5 seasons. At MSU, he helped many swimmers setting MSU school records as well as earning BIG-10 academic all Americans honors. During every summer, he was also the MSU summer swim camp coordinator as well as a leading coach for Spartan Swim Club where he led some swimmers competing at Summer Junior Nationals as well as Senior Nationals.
At MSU, Wyoming, FAU, he was an adjunct professor teaching variety of classes: business stress management, Japanese, and physical education activity courses.
 
Coach Manny has been a part of international support staff on several occasions. In both 2011 and 2012, Noguchi was named as a staff member of the US NCSA Junior National Team for an international dual against the Itoman Junior National Team. In July 2001, Noguchi was a member of the U.S. Swimming National Team Staff as an interpreter and media coordinator between U.S. National Team and various Japanese organizations.
Before joining the MSU staff, Coach Manny was a graduate assistant for the University of Georgia, from 2002-04, where he earned a master's degree in education with an emphasis in exercise science. While at the UGA, he also served as the Athens Bulldog Swim Club (ABSC)
