Bill Morosco Named Head Coach of IRSC Men’s Basketball

June 27th will mark the start of a new era for Indian River State College basketball as Bill Morosco takes over as the new Head Coach of the program.

In a sort of "HOMECOMING" Morosco returns to his home state of Florida to assume all duties and tasks associated with overseeing a team that has risen to an NJCAA National and FCSAA Region VIII power. The last two seasons have seen the PIONEERS play in the REGION VIII championship game and advance to the NJCAA National Championship in Hutchinson, Kansas, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2022 and the Elite 8 in 2021.

Morosco, a native of Wellington, Florida, will enter his first season with Indian River after seeing success at Garden City Community College in Kansas. His first and only season at GCCC saw his team end with a 22-10 overall record averaging 91.3 points per game, notching multiple wins over NJCAA Top 25 ranked opponents. Prior to GCCC, Morosco was the Head Coach at Independence Community College of the Jayhawk Conference. His teams at INDY proved to be high octane offensive teams averaging 90 points per game in 2020 and notching key victories over nationally ranked opponents while posting a 23-9 overall record.

His knowledge of Region VIII basketball and the ability to recruit the state of Florida were cultivated over his time spent as an assistant at Barry University and Eastern Florida State College. Having grown up in south Florida, he has a unique knowledge of the high school coaching community throughout the FHSAA that will keep the best players close to home while competing for championships and earning degrees.

Indian River welcomes Bill and Samantha Morosco back home to the Sunshine State and the Treasure Coast community.
