IRSC’s A. J. Cajuste Named First Team NJCAA All-American

Fort Pierce, Florida – A.J. Cajuste was honored yet again as he was announced to the Men's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I All-American First Team.  The 6'1" sophomore point guard from Boco Raton, Florida lead Indian River State College (IRSC) Men's Basketball Team to one of their finest seasons in school history.  The team compiled a 28-5 overall record, a third straight Southern Conference Title, and back-to-back trips the NJCAA National Tournament. 

Cajuste returned to IRSC for his Covid sophomore season, and the extensive work he put in during the off season really paid off.  "I couldn't be prouder of A.J. as he took a chance on us and returned for his final year. His accomplishments this season were a direct result of his hard work and commitment," stated IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.  Cajuste was also named the top junior college player in the state of Florida when he was selected as the Region 8 Player of the Year.  He captured the Southern Conference Player of the Year and was a member of the Florida Region 8 All-State Team.

Scoring was one area Cajuste made big improvements as he averaged 19.5 points per game which ranked him second in the state of Florida.  He scored over 30 points in four contests with a career high 36 points on January 29th against Florida Southwestern State College. Cajuste also led the state in assists dishing out 7.1 per game.  In his three years as a Pioneer, he scored 1,039 points and handed out 455 assists while helping his team to an overall 70-17 record.

Cajuste has committed to play NCAA Division I basketball for Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas under Head Coach Kyle Keller.
