IRSC Men Come From Behind To Defeat Miami Dade

The Pioneers collected their 21st win of the season by defeating Miami Dade College 96-88.  IRSC found themselves behind on the scoreboard for much of the contest, but found a way to get the victory in the final minutes.  The Pioneers trailed by as many as 13 in the second half, and took only their second lead of the game with 5:02 when sharp shooter Kevin Grace nailed a baseline 3-pointer to raise the score to 77-74.  IRSC was able to handle Miami Dade's pressure late in the game and converted from the free-throw line to seal the win.  "Our guys would not give up, we didn't shoot the ball extremely well, but they continued to fight," commented IRSC Head Coach Charlie Wilson.

Deontae Weaver had another big offensive output by scoring 29 points, he was followed by Kimani Binder with 16, and Anthony Brown dropped in 15.  The Pioneers ranked 5th in the latest NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll are 21-6 and 8-1 in the Southern Conference.

IRSC will next be in action on February 20th when they take on Palm Beach State College in Fort Pierce with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
