Indian River Walks Off St. Pete

FORT PIERCE, FL- Indian River walks off St. Pete College 7-6 on Thursday, March 13. Indian River improves to 18-7 overall and 9-4 in Citrus Conference play.

It came down to the wire as Indian River grabbed the victory in dramatic fashion. Indian River took a 6-2 lead into the ninth inning, but miscues led to four runs, tying the game 6-6 heading into the bottom half. It didn't take long for Indian River to get the run back and ultimately win the game when sophomore Jason Lashley hit a triple and Scout Simpson followed with a single to score Lashley and secure the victory.

Justin Minaberry earned the win for Indian River, allowing no earned runs in his inning of work. Lucas Glendinning got the start and went seven innings, allowing two runs—one earned—while striking out five. Sammy Beir served as the bridge between the two, not allowing a baserunner in his inning of work.

Indian River collected nine hits in the game. Brett Patten, Jason Lashley, and Scout Simpson each had two hits. Jacob Souza added a hit and was a tough out, walking in his three other plate appearances. On the base paths, The River ran wild, piling up five stolen bases.

Indian River will head to Clearwater to finish up the series with St. Pete, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.
