IRSC Defeated On The Road Against Daytona State

The Pioneer Volleyball team takes to the road again with another conference matchup against the Falcons of Daytona State College. After dropping their home match against Daytona in 4 sets, the Pioneers were looking for revenge. This is the first match that has been played since Hurricane Ian came through, and everyone was feeling a little antsy to get on the court.

The match opened up with IRSC serving and it started off about as poorly as possible. Starting with a missed serve, a ball handling error, and a missed attack; the Pioneers quickly fell into a large deficit that would only grow larger throughout the course of the game. They would drop the first set, 25-10.

The second set was much more competitive and had several ties and lead changes throughout most of the game. Tied up late in the set it looked like a good opportunity for the River to even up the sets, but unfortunately Daytona made some excellent defensive plays and were able to secure the win 25-21

Deflated from their loss in the previous set, the Pioneers took the court for set three, but seemed to be there only halfway. Looking sluggish and defeated the River did not put up much of a fight and quickly were beaten in a 3 set sweep. The final set was a loss of 25-10.

The Pioneers return home for their sophomore night on Saturday, October 8th against conference rival, Eastern Florida.
