Indian River Volleyball Defeats Webber JV

Indian River Volleyball Defeats Webber JV

The second matchup in a weekend tri-match, and the Pioneers are looking to secure another quick win on this Saturday afternoon.

The match started as hoped with the IRSC girls taking early control and establishing their offense as well as keeping the Webber team on their heels with aggressive serving. However, the Webber team settled into their rhythm and while they didn't have a lot of big kills, the hustle and desire were definitely there. Through low error play, the Webber team narrowed the gap but not before dropping the first set 25-19.

The second set began and it was apparent that IRSC was not as focused as they should have been, as they made lots of silly errors at the beginning. These unforced errors led to much tighter play and went back and forth for a large portion of the set. Thanks to a big contribution from freshman RS Daphne Wibranowski (9 kills, 1 block) the Pioneers were able to pull ahead at the end and win the second set 25-21.

The third set was finally the IRSC volleyball that was expected, coming out strong and taking a commanding lead early. In this set there was no looking back. The Pioneers continued to make play after play and were no longer making the unforced errors they were earlier. Before you knew it, IRSC finished off the sweep with a 25-13 3rd set victory!
