Pioneers Sweep Eastern Florida

Pioneers Sweep Eastern Florida

The Indian River State College Volleyball team would take to the road again last night seeking a much needed win from Eastern Florida State College. Both the Titans and the Pioneers are both competing for the final spot in the Suncoast conference state championship, so a victory would be huge for either team. The Pioneers were able to beat Eastern at home in four sets, but beating them on the road is a different task, and there are no easy games in the Titan gym.

The match started off as expected, with Eastern coming out to take the lead early and bringing lots of energy. The Pioneers seemed unsure of what to do and were struggling to match the energy levels of the Titans. Unable to figure out their energy, the Pioneers dropped the first set 25-14.

There were some subs made and some rotations changed and the Pioneers came out a totally different team, and they were ready to play. They would carry that newfound momentum the rest of the way forward and would sweep the Titans after dropping the first. They won their games 25-19, 25-21, and then finished with a very close match 25-22.

Top performers for the Pioneers included Greta Klotz (12 Kills, 10 digs), Mallory Roney (12 Kills, 6 digs), and Izabella Rae (22 Assists, 13 Digs)

This win brings the Pioneers to 5-11 overall and 4-8 in the conference. Their next match is this Saturday, October 16 at Sante Fe. Please come out and support your Pioneers!
